Laundry Powder

You can make quality laundry powder in as simple as three ingredients that will not only save you money, but dramatically cut your toxin exposure as well.

4 cups washing soda

4 cups baking soda

2 cups salt

You can also grate a bar of soap for scent and add that to the mixture if you would like (essential oils in laundry powder are pointless, they work their magic during the dryer stage) or add borax to this recipe as well. There is a debate if borax is “clean enough,” and I have done this recipe both ways with no real difference in results, so it comes down to preference. Borax works especially well in hot water, if that is something you decide to add to only specific loads. The salt in this recipe will also help if your house runs on hard water.

Use ¼ per load and then I also add ½ cup of distilled white vinegar to every load for extra softening and stain and odor removal.
